Artist Profile

Rita Curtis returned to painting after a career as a publications editor, writer, designer, and illustrator at Johns Hopkins University. During that time she traveled to Africa and Asia to help transfer communication skills to health professionals. She often instructed workshop participants using publications she had written or designed. Her illustrations are featured worldwide in manuals produced by the World Health Organization.

Rita studied at the Art Students League of New York with David Leffel, Frank Mason, Vincent Malta, and Robert Beverly Hale. After a family move to Baltimore she took portrait classes at the Schuler School. Recently she's taken landscape workshops with Scott Christensen and a color workshop with Camille Prezwodek.
